Porções Vermelhas de Rock’n'Roll

Se me pedissem pra resumir, eu diria assim. A A Red So Deep é de Porto Alegre, mas felizmente não se aproveita das facilidades dos maneirismos gaúchos. Com um instrumental coeso, pesado e denso, vocais suaves e introspectivos, traz referências da fina linhagem do rock alternativo: Garbage, Auf der Maur, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Helmet e Cursive. É bem verdade que muitas bandas cheias de boas intenções ficam apenas no meio do caminho. Mas o caso, aqui, é que todos participam da cena musical há um bom tempo. - o que garante, no mínimo, um senso crítico para a composição e a produção das faixas, além, obviamente, de experiência.

Quando a banda se encontrou na casa de Cris Selbach (guitarrista da Superphones e da primeira formação da ARSD, que contava ainda com Milton Borsato na bateria e Mariana Prates no baixo) pela primeira vez pra ensaiar e trocar idéias sobre letras e melodias foi que a coisa começou a andar. Era setembro de 2004, e todos queriam fazer algo novo. Fergs gostaria de se arriscar nos vocais e os outros integrantes queriam experimentar novas sonoridades que não cabiam em seus grupos de origem.

O baixista Rodrigo de Muniaguirra e o guitarrista Bruno Pommer são colegas na banda de metal Red Pill; Fernanda Junkie, que hoje empunha a outra guitarra, toca na Parkplatz; e Filipe Telles, atual responsável pela bateria, também mantém outros projetos. Fergs estréia nos vocais com a A Red So Deep.

O primeiro registro da banda vai se chamar “As black furniture makes cat hair appear”, um EP com quatro faixas, a ser lançado em 2007. A produção e a mixagem são uma parceria da banda com Marcelo Kalil (tecladista da Superhones) e Sérgio Kalil (Superphones, The Dolomites).

If I was asked to summarize it, that’s what I would say: A Red So Deep is from Porto Alegre, but thankfully they don’t take advantage on the easiness of the mannerism of their fellows. Their instrumental is heavy and dense, influenced on the best lineage of alternative rock: Garbage, Auf der Maur, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Helmet e Cursive. It is true that many bands with good intentions stop in the middle of the way. But the case here is that all of them have been in the musical scene for a long time - what ensures at least critical sense for the writing and producing processes - besides, obviously, experience.

When the band met up at Cris Selbach’s (Superphones guitarrist and member of ARSD’s first line up, which also included Milton Borsato on drums and Mariana Prates on bass) for the first time to rehearse and talk about lyrics and songs things started to work out. It was September 2004 and everyone was keen to start something new. Fergs wanted to take chances on vocals and the other band members were willing to play something different from what they were doing in their bands.

The bass player Rodrigo de Muniaguirra and the guitarrist Bruno Pommer are also mates in a metal band called Red Pill; Fernanda Junkie also plays guitar in Parkplatz; and Filipe Telles, who is now in charge of drums, plays in other projects. Fergs debuts as a vocalist in A Red So Deep.

The band’s first record will be called “As black furniture makes cat hair appear”, an EP with 4 songs, to be released in 2007. The mixing and production is a partnership of the band with Marcelo Kalil (Superphones’ keyboardist) and Sérgio Kalil (Superphones, The Dolomites).
